Dosage: Clomipramine Hydrochloride
Side Effects:
- Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or difficulty focusing, especially at the start of treatment or with dose increases.
- Lightheadedness, particularly when rising quickly from a sitting or lying position.
- Dry mouth.
- Difficulty urinating.
- Dry or sticky eyes (for contact lens wearers).
- Constipation.
- Sweating or hot flushes.
- Increased or decreased appetite and weight changes.
- Fatigue and mental dullness.
- Feelings of unrest or anxiety.
- Compelling need for constant motion.
- Repetitive, involuntary movements.
- Disturbed sleep or nightmares.
- Shakiness or trembling.
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
- Poor appetite or weight loss.
- Mouth or tongue sores.
- Headache.
Drug Interactions:
- MAOIs.
- SSRIs or SNRIs (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine).
- Warfarin.
- Diuretics (fluid or water tablets).
- Some medicines for colds or allergies.
- Anticholinergic medicines.
- Medicines for thyroid problems.

Indication:
- Treating severe and/or long-lasting depression.

- Muscle weakness in people with narcolepsy.
When Not to Use: Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Clomipramine Hydrochloride or other tricyclic antidepressants.
Clomfranil Tablets Precautions
Precaution: Since depression is often associated with OCD, the risk of suicide must be considered. Prescriptions should be written for the smallest quantity of capsules consistent with good patient management to reduce overdose risk.
Clomfranil Tablets Warnings
Warning 1: All patients on antidepressants should be monitored closely for clinical worsening, suicidality, and unusual behavior changes, especially during the initial months of therapy or during dose changes.
Warning 2: Caution is advised in patients with known liver disease, and periodic monitoring of hepatic enzyme levels is recommended.
Warning 3: Concurrent administration with electroconvulsive therapy may increase risks; such treatment should be limited to essential cases due to limited clinical experience.
