This CNS depressant induces feelings of calm, drowsiness, and sleep by enhancing the binding of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA at various GABA receptors throughout the CNS.

Uses Used as a sedative and hypnotic to treat:
- Seizures or fits due to epilepsy
- Involuntary muscle spasms
- Panic disorders
- Restless leg syndrome
Dosage To be taken strictly as prescribed by a doctor for the designated duration and in the correct amounts.
In case of Overdose Symptoms include intoxication, somnolence, impaired balance, motor function, anterograde amnesia, ataxia, and slurred speech. Seek immediate medical treatment (antidotes: flumazenil and naloxone).
Missed Dose Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose.
How To Use Take this medicine with a full glass of water after meals or on an empty stomach.
When Not to Use Not recommended for:
- Pregnant or nursing women
- People with depression or psychosis who have attempted suicide
- People with COPD, bronchitis, or sleep apnea
- People with myasthenia gravis

At higher doses, side effects include:
- Slurred speech
- Decreased motor coordination
